New-hire onboarding
Give new hires practice before their first live customer
Build a route from learning the process to practising it and showing they can handle it. Keep human coaching in the programme, with more opportunities to apply what was taught.

What changed
When this becomes a priority
A new cohort is joining
A hiring date gives the programme a real deadline. Map what new hires must know, practise and demonstrate before their first supported live shift.
The live inbox cannot supply a learning sequence
Incoming tickets arrive according to customer demand, not a curriculum. Assign a deliberate sequence of routine requests and harder situations during training.
Shadowing does not guarantee hands-on practice
Watching an experienced colleague is useful, but it does not show whether a learner can perform the task. Add an independent attempt before the handoff to production.

New product-support hires
- Practice

- Assessment
Feature-specific scorecards help the team assess each attempt and see where more practice is needed.

Assess the work, not just the answer
Set criteria for this role and scenario. Use the feedback to guide another attempt or a conversation with a trainer.
Communication
Explain the next step in language the customer understands.
Product knowledge
Apply what was taught to a realistic customer problem.
Judgement
Ask the right questions and recognise when more help is needed.
